Carmen's Drawing of My Turtle
Whenever Carmen gives me a drawing, it usually has a turtle in it. She associates me with turtles and proclaims them as my favorite animal. She knows I have a pet turtle who she loves to feed whenever she is over. I went over to Tina's house the other day and saw this picture stuck to the fridge. Apparently, Carmen drew it for me but liked it too much to give it away. It's my turtle in his tank, and Carmen is feeding him. See her lil head poking out at the top and saying "hehe." Underneath the turtle tank is two kinds of turtle food. The containers say shrimp and pellets. Haha! She puts so much detail in her art work. It is adorable!

My Daughter, the Aspiring Artist
My daughter wants to be an artist when she grows up. When Laura draws a picture, Carmen draws the exact same picture a minute later. She's even adopted Laura's signature swirly eye. The funny thing is when I went to Carmen's friend's house, I saw a drawing her friend did with a swirly eye. It's become an epidemic, I tell you. Well, I'm not discouraging her, even though I secretly wish she'll be a doctor. Now I know how parents feel 'cause I am a parent. Here she made some clay characters. Laura made the dog, but she painted it, and the blue guy is all her.
She was also inspired by Laura's "The Love Story of a Spoon." If you don't remember, it was Laura's stop motion picture she made for school. Check it out if you haven't seen it. Here is Carmen's own little video she made that we call "Where's my dog?"

Carmen Experiments with My Pen Pad
I was at Tina's house yesterday and was working on fixing up our header, when Carmen came along and wanted to draw too, because I was working with a pen pad. So I let her use it and draw on paint. She worked for about 20 minutes on this first art piece. It's a picture of herself with a very elaborate shirt! Notice the swirly eye, a style she picked up watching me draw.
This next picture she drew later. Isn't it adorable? Her apples are lovely. She has very good control of her hands and good attention to detail.
Rachel saw her big sister drawing so she wanted a turn also. She learned how to use the pen pad quickly, because she's a smarty.

I like the picture below because I asked her why she was done so fast and why she only did a small amount of drawing. She told me that it was wind and wind is like that, all crazy and little. Hehe.
I have concluded that these two little ones are artists in the making! :)

Carmen's Art
Tina and the kids came over Tara's house today for a dinner redo for my birthday, because last time we didn't have time for dinner and ended up getting dinner at a sucky pizza place.
Anyway, I was doing homework on Adobe and using a drawing pad. It's a fun tool so I told Tina and Tara to play with it too. Of course Carmen saw it and wanted to use it too. She drew a cute picture on paint, and she didn't use an eraser or anything, because I was too lazy to teach her how.
Know who it is? It's me! Haha. It's funny she remembers I have freckles. Because they're so faint, even I forget about them. I thought it was pretty cute, and I was impressed she was so quick to master the drawing pad.

Here's her drawing. Enjoy! I know Carmen enjoyed looking at it after she was done. We heard her burst out laughing from the living room. Hehe. She's cute.
