Homemade Ice Cream

Tina got a Cuisinart Automatic Ice Cream Maker (pictured on the right), and we tried it out recently. We have never made homemade ice cream before. I never realized how easy it is to make. I was all excited about it. I kept telling the kids to come see. Yeah, they definitely were not as excited...although they were very happy to eat it. I tried making mint chocolate chip a couple weeks ago. It didn't turn out too bad. Today, I made cookies and cream, using oreo cookies. The basic ingredients are milk, sugar, and cream, and you just need to throw it in the ice cream maker and turn it on for 25-30 minutes. How simple is that. And you get ice cream that is soft and creamy. Plus you have more control over the fat content and the ingredients.

What I really want to try is different flavors...something gourmet or with fresh fruit. I didn't want to do anything too crazy in the first couple attempts in case it turned out bad. I can't wait to try something new...now that I've stolen the ice cream maker from Tina. Tehe.

Hehe I just wish the ice cream maker could make bigger batches.

Yeah, for parties, it definitely doesn't make enough. I basically gave everyone one small scoop.

OMG, I didn't tell you the story of how I accidentally gave Alyssa a cup and then had to immediately take it away from her. I saw her in the corner of my eye and thought she was Rachel. She just kinda stood there and didn't know whether to cry. Poor girl.

Long time, no comment :oP Aww, I want to try your homemade ice cream...sounds delish. Better than buying $9 ice creams here in Hawaii (and you know I'm not exaggerating) Anyway, you should try to make lychee ice cream. I had lychee sherbet the other day and it was awesome!

Yo, chick-a-dee! Lychee? Sounds hard. Actually, I want to make Hawaiian shave ice...yum.
