The Big Bang Theory is a show about nerds for nerds, wanna-be nerds and closet nerds. Tara gave me the first season on DVD and said watch it. I went into it not know anything about the show. I didn't even know it was a sitcom, but it was surprisingly good and a completely different idea. Who knew nerds could be so interesting? I just love how they talk, and the best thing of all is that I can actually understand them. It makes me feel smart. I knew I was a genius.
The show is centered around these two 20-something nerds who are both physicists with M.D.'s, Ph.D.'s, you name it they've got it. Leonard seems the most normal and he's in love with their neighbor, Penny, who lives across the hall. And Sheldon...he has idiosyncrasies that make him hilarious. He hates people, likes orderliness, has narcissistic tendencies, and thinks he's smarter than everybody else. Note: The actor, Jim Parsons, is nominated for an Emmy for his role as Sheldon.
Quotes from the show:
Penny: I’m a Sagittarius, which probably tells you way more than you need to know.
Sheldon: Yes, it tells us that you participate in the mass cultural delusion that the sun’s apparent position relative to arbitrarily defined constellations at the time of your birth somehow affects your personality.
Sheldon: You have to check your messages, Leonard! Leaving a message is one-half of a social contract, which is completed by the checking of the message. If that contract breaks down, then all social contracts break down and we descend into anarchy.
Leonard: It must be hell inside your head.
Sheldon: At times.
This show is worth watching or TiVoing. Does anybody have TiVo anymore? I don't know. Well, whatever. You could be like me and watch it on DVD. Just give it a chance. Mondays 9:30pm on CBS.
